Reason I ask is that my wife and I got married 3 years ago and I was glad that my wife and I declined the offer for her parents to pay for our wedding. We both have good paying jobs and were able to save up. Also if her parents paid they wanted control on what they were to have for example certain style table covers , seat covers and not feed the orchestra with everyone else. They wanted to feed the orchestra turkey sandwich wraps. That in a way is embarrassing. And they want to limit only to certain amount of people. Guys how do you feel of your future in laws paying for your wedding? I can be the same as throwing a piece of meat to a dog. Are there any guys out there that paid for their own wedding and not seek out third party help?

If you both have good jobs to pay for the wedding, why are you asking if there are men here who paid for the wedding as if women do not contribute or refuse that help as well? Why not ask if there are couples who have done this?

Paid for my own wedding.
Asks for donations to animal charities instead of gifts.

My FIL gave every kid $$ to help buy a house. I sent it back.

Best thing to do.👍. If a couple is mature enough to get married, they should be mature enough to pay their own wedding and future with their spouse

Not married yet, but I told the G/F that my approach is the same to everything else I've done in life. I don't need your money, i'll do it myself

Wow, some very refreshing attitudes here. Happy to see self-sufficiency and personal pride do still exist!
