Getting married next weekend and the weather will be around high of 66 and low of 55 per weather.com. We had not thought about doing a coat check and when we asked our caterer they said it will be another $250. Do we think this is necessary?

IF you do not have a coat check, where can they put their outerwear?

I guess they can leave it in the car or put on their chair ? is that inconvenient? I know if I was going to a wedding now I would not bring a coat because it is still nice out so I guess I am assuming there wouldn't be many others bringing coats?

So the venue does not have a place to put coats? That is odd..... Any one I have been to had some place to hang coats.

IDK. you spent thousands and thousands already. What is another $250! Surely that will be better than tripping over coats hung on chairs, right?
Where will umbrellas go if it pours? (Usually they go in the same area as the coats.)

Yea the venue would have to set up a coat check and hire an attendant so we need to pay for the attendant. That is a good point. It will look tacky if people hang their coats on their chairs. Even if not a lot of people bring coats there may be some... ugh what is another 250 haha!

I am surprised there isn't a place where people hang up their own coats.
That is what I am used to.

It is a ballroom in a condo building so it is a little odd setup. They would set up the coat rack outside the ballroom and someone would need to attend it because the people that live there will be coming in and out.

I have never attended a wedding where there was a coat check person. Are you sure that there is a need for that? For example, will a lot of people be wearing mink or sable coats? Can't the coat rack be set up inside the ball room on one end instead of outside in the hallway?

$250 for hiring someone to sit by the coats for a few hours sounds like a lot of money. Can your ask an acquaintance to do it for less?

I don't think it's necessary. Surely people can make it from the parking lot in 55 degree weather without coats. It's not like they're going for a leisurely stroll outdoors.
