Well, Vegas weddings are more likely to be theme driven, but if the Bride and Groom haven't mentioned it, I wouldn't worry too much.

But theme weddings have long been a thing to varying degrees.

Mod cut: Off-topic.

As far as what to wear, I wouldn't wear long sleeve in the fall. At least do 3/4 length or short or sleeveless with a jacket or sweater. It can still get pretty hot there in the fall. I would wear more of a casual dress. Just something simple and dress it up with some jewelry. Vegas is known for it's cheesy themed weddings, but they do have nice one's too. However, I don't see Excalibur as being all that classy.

you should stick with a traditional mother of the bride type dress. No need to ask your kid

I'm surprised no one said an Elvis or Liberace costume.

Seriously though, it may depend on the weather there at that time of year.

I live in Las Vegas. Strip weddings are usually not nearly as formal as traditional weddings. Many are very casual. You are tall and thin, you can look good in anything. I would probably go with a Diane Von Furstenberg classic wrap dress that you will wear again and you can dress it up or down with accessories. Plus they are pretty comfortable. Get 2 pairs of shoes. Heels for the wedding then something more comfortable for walking.

I'd wear a simple sheath dress in a light color (because of the heat), with some low-heeled strappy sandals, and a bit of minimal jewelry to finish off the look.

I don't think there is any reason to select apparel different from what you might wear elsewhere, especially when the wedding is in the chapel of a major strip hotel.

You might try posting in the Las Vegas forum as well. Mod note: cross-posting the same topic in more than one forum is not permitted.

I was the aunt of the bride at a LV destination wedding. To the rehearsal dinner in a private room at the Venetian I wore a silk pantsuit, black trousers with a red jacket that has black and silver braid trim. To the evening wedding on a large patio at a resort I wore a black and silver knit cocktail-type suit. The same black sandals trimmed in rhinestones with both outfits. Compared to the other guests I seemed to be appropriate. Even the bride, who wore traditional white, was glitzier than a bride I would see in a church. Her gown sparkled and she wore very showy crystal jewelry.

If your couple really is doing an Excalibur theme but you don't want to go in costume, pick something cut in a simple, normal way but in a regal color or fabric. Velvet if it's winter, or purple satin, or deep red silk. So even if costumes aren't the norm, you won't look crazy and if costumes are being worn, you won't stand out inappropriately even if they make you put on one of those pointy hats.

Lots of good advice here...a simple, classic dress & heels, regardless of the wedding venue. Remember, you are not the star of the show here.

I hope your attitude isn't because you have some bias against people getting married in Vegas. My MIL was like that...swore we werent "really" married, even though here we are, several decades later. Her attitude caused a lot of hurt & alienation. So, just roll with it.
