If you were mother of the Bride/Groom? Just curious if you would pick something different than if it were held somewhere less glitzy? I would feel most comfortable in knee length 3/4 or full sleeve (definitely not sleeveless) dress, dark blue sounds good-I most likely will take a few dresses to choose from and pick one that fits best on the day of the wedding. I would like to hear what others would wear as I'm not exactly a Las Vegas type girl but not a slouch either. The wedding will be in the chapel of a major casino on the strip this fall.

Depends on the venue, the theme, and the time of day.

Why not ask your daughter/son what would be appropriate?

only because the answer would most likely be a pair of black sweat pants with "bite me" written across my ass in rhinestones-but thanks for your reply............................yes- just what I need a 20 something telling a 60 something what's appropriate........

So, what's the venue, theme, and time of day?

I would probably recommend something different for The Graceland Chapel as opposed to The Bellagio. Or something different for a 10am wedding as opposed to an 8pm wedding.

It's at the Excalibur-4pm-ish in the Fall

I don't know what you mean by theme- I hope to God we don't have to dress like Knights of the round table and Ladies in waiting...........

That actually IS a real thing at the Excalibur!
You can bring your own costume, or rent one of theirs.

Afternoon at Excalibur ... no need to get too fancy. I don't know what your style or body type is, but I'd probably wear something simple like this and accessorize.

I wouldn't take multiple dresses. Just decide before the wedding and take that dress. Pack light! :-)

thank you- that is at least along the lines I was thinking anyway- I'm trying to be a good sport about this- but slowly dying inside.........and closer to the wedding will most likely be in full meltdown mode- that's why I wanted to pick out a few things early- I'm tall and pretty normal weight for my age- 5'9- 145 lbs

and since you both mentioned theme- Is that a thing now? theme weddings? ( I don't mean the Excalibur theme- I know that).

It is pretty normal for invitations now to state what the expected dress should be.

It is not out of bounds to ask your daughter or DIl about this. You could also connect with your child's mother so you two look like you are attending the same event.
