Most definitely. Boca Raton is very much upscale and in my opinion lower key than SW FL. It's one of the more expensive areas of Palm Beach County. Lots of designer label stores and high end shopping centers. Alot of newbies to Palm Beach County culture claim to experience some sort of clash with Boca natives. They feel like they are very snobby and rude. Which can be said true for some Boca residents. But who really moves to Boca for the people? I wouldn't. When I used to live in S. FL going to Boca was no problem and I never had an issue with anyone. I never attempted to make friends. I simply minded my own business, did what I needed to do, and left. I guess snobby in PBC can be mistaken as bourgeois. Alot of people get used to that kind of higher quality of living and general safeness that they begin to get comfortable and feel themselves a bit. Especially when you watch the news of crime rates soaring in close by cities like Boynton Beach and think to themselves how lucky they are for living in such a great city. Anyway, don't sweat it. Boca in my opinion is a great place to live. It's right next to beautiful beaches, lots of great ethnic restaurants, and just a short drive to West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

If you can get a job then sure it's ok. The Sarasota area isn't very different from Palm Beach County, there's just more people in the PBC/Broward/Dade area.

Boca Raton has the highest white collar crime rate in the state of Florida.

I believe that if you have the money to open a beauty salon in Boca and you are truly arty and talented , you can make a good move to Boca area.

What made you choose Boca out of other cities even in the area? Boca is very seasonal so your client base will be much different in winter vs summer. That being said many of the snow birds have their regular people they go to and refer their friends to who they see. I would think it would be hard to build clientel though I know starting new anywhere is hard. Have you been to Boca before? Overall it is a safe and upscale area.Parts of Boca are younger but does have an older feel that is not very friendly. It is also over priced in my eyes. Not to say there are not nice people because there are but in general. If you decide you want to make this move you may want to work as an assistant to a hair dresser that has a big client base and then go out on your own. Good luck in what you decide.
