Jupiter anyone? (Palm Beach, Indiantown: for sale, oceanfront, HOA fees)

Is there anyone online who lives in Jupiter (Palm Beach county?) I would appreciate some inside info on what the town is like and the affordability. Thank you in advance.

Check out realtor.com. 33478 is out west, Jupiter Farms is 1.25 acres+ per home/rural and cheap. 33477 is east down by the beach/waterfront and 33458 is the middle ground.

Taxes are roughly 2% of value, as in 400K house will have an $8,000 a year property tax bill. HOA fees can be a few hundred a month depending on amenities.

We've lived in Jupiter for almost a year now. We like the town. We are from a large metro area; so the cultural opportunities feel a bit limited here. We are in an area called Abacoa. My wife feels quite safe, day or night. Three miles to a great beach. Jupiter itself has a somewhat ungainly small town vibe, like a teenager with uneven growth. There really isn't much of a 'central area'; a couple mile stretch of Indiantown Rd. pretty much defines it. But it's all a bit spread out, no pedestrian areas for example. I guess you could view that as part of it's personality, not necessarily a negative.

Affordability is tougher to answer. I've seen a cost-of-living index of 1.12, that feels about right. One thing is for sure - Jupiter is spread out enough that you can find any type of housing you might be looking for, from trailers to mega-million dollar estates.

I moved to Jupiter in 1995 and I love it....it brings new meaning to the phrase "quaint little beach town". Prices vary greatly from waterfront homes to golf course communities to Abacoa Homes, so it real depends on what you are looking for.
