It's happening very often. You do need to be very concerned. Always.
False! You have a better chance of getting shot by someone wearing Crocs footwear then getting maimed by a alligator or crocodile in Palm beach county... No need to be concerned, unless you are swimming in a canal...

It's not "false" at all.
Here's yesterday's headline:

Alligator lunges out of canal, attacks 90-year-old woman (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/nation/alligator-lunges-out-of-canal-attacks-90-year-1808822.html - broken link)

"It's happening very often. You do need to be very concerned. Always.'

This statement is false, there is no truth to it. Are you really concerned about alligators snatching people and pets in Palm Beach County? Why spread fear?

My statement is completely true and yes, I am concerned about alligators attacking people and pets in Palm Beach county and in all of alligator territory.
It's not "spreading fear", it's educating people. People like you, who are vastly underestimating the danger.

Florida Wildlife will only remove alligators which are 4 feet in length or longer. I have seen many alligators in our residential area. I have also seen some huge snakes.

Did anyone actually read the article on the 90 year old woman? It says her property back to the Everglades....it says she has had multiple pets eaten by aligators. So pretty much they have been "trained" to go to her property for a snack. Same with Sanibel Island when all those attacks occurred a few years ago. There are more aligators on Sanibel than humans. If people want to educate themselves, know your property...I have little children, they are not allowed to go even 5 feet from a canal. I would never buy a house on a canal because of drownings and aligators. There are many beautiful homes on dry lots.

Calm down everyone.. we all have different opinions on this subject and you are entitled to yours just like everyone else however attacking someone who disagrees with you goes against the spirit of this board.

While you may have seen alligators that does not mean that everyone who lives in the county or the state has seen them.

I grew up in the Jupiter area on a lakefront property and saw 3 alligators in a period of about 16 years in my back yard. Each time an alligator trapper was called out to remove them.
