We are researching elementary schools for a possible move to Jupiter this year. I noticed Jupiter Lighthouse Elementary is only K-2. So where do students go after the second grade?? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, since I've always assumed middle school starts at grade 6.

Also, I heard that if you live in the Jupiter Elementary district (i.e., Paseos and Botanica) that you can apply to have your child go to Jerry Thomas or Limestone Creek instead since Jupiter Elem. is not A-rated. Can anyone confirm this, and point me to info online that confirms this?

The neighborhood we decide to buy in will be heavily influenced by our school decision. We're looking at everything from Rialto, to Egret Landing, to Paseos, to Canterbury, and they all go to different schools!

That's interesting. So why is it split up like that, and is Beacon Cove strictly for kids coming out of Lighthouse? I wonder if that's a stressful transition for the kids. If we decide to buy in Abacoa then it's like we need to decide whether to buy a house closerer to Lighthouse or closer to Beacon, thinking it would be nice if our kids to walk to school one day or else take the bus. Decisions, decisions.

They split them up because both schools are huge. There are 900 or so kids at Lighthouse and then another 950 at Beacon Cove. If you live in Abacoa (or certain zones near the beach) and you are k-2 it's lighthouse 3-5 Beacon Cove. My son has been to both. Last year we moved here in January (middle of his 2nd grade year) and he attended Lighthouse for half the year and now is in 3rd grade at Beacon. I think the negative is that they are so big (there are 18 or so 3rd grade classes). We came from a very small school but he has made a good adjustment. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions re: the schools.
