We are looking to move to the Wellington/Lake Worth border near Olympia and Versailles. We love the area, but also plan to go to the beach a lot. We are wondering which beaches are nicest and closest to that area for locals?

Fort Myers since it is the closest for you!

Ha...just kidding but Wellington is way west!

I go to Phipps Ocean Park or Palm Beach's Public Beach, it's an easy quick drive 20 minutes tops via Southern Blvd from Welly World. The parking is expensive though at $5 a hour.

Lake Worth Rd. from Versailles straight east will take you to Lake Worth Beach.

When I lived out that way I went to Palm Beach, Singer Island and Lake Worth about equally. Singer Island is the furthest drive from there, but at least at that time, it was probably my favorite (I just didn't go there as often because of the longer drive, plus friends more often hung out at Lake Worth).

Palm Beach, Singer Island and Lake Worth are all good beaches. Palm Beach is fun because it's usually less crowded and you can drive around and gawk at the mansions on your way.

Red Reef Park is fun; Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is nearby. If you have a dog, Juno Beach is lovely. Stay away from Lake Worth Beach; it's overcrowded and a little run-down. There's a renovation underway, however. MacArthur [sic] Park is one of my favorites.

What?..........Red Reef Park is wayyyy down in Boca Raton....so is Gumbo Limbo.....Juno is way, way far away from Wellington, too...Lake Worth beach is the best and easiest the original poster can go to and it is NOT at all over crowded or run down!
It's a terrific beach and has the beautiful fishing pier, a fantastic restaurant that you can eat inside or outside or up on the sundeck (what a view!) and also a terrific tiki bar outside that has a roof above you that provides shade and shelter from any rain and it serves great drinks and food/appetizers to you while you take in the scenery. People also go to the tiki bar in their swimwear.
