The further east in Lake Worth, the better. I would probably not live west of Dixie Highway. Not enough gentrification on that side yet. The downtown core actually has some great potential. It's often busier on a weeknight than Clematis.

Lake Worth has the best potential of probably all the PBC coastal cities of being an affordable, bohemian vibe town like Key West.

To find any rental where no deposit is required will be impossible, for obvious reasons.
You may find something where the landlord will work with you and allow you to pay off some of the deposit.
Your price range isn't too realistic - drive around areas you're thinking about moving to and look for "For Rent" signs or consider finding someone looking for a roommate.
Best of luck.

Hello Jennifer,

My son and I are also looking for an apt, but with the high cost of rentals it is a little difficult. It would be good to have someone share a 3 bedroom apt, split the rent in 3 and utilities as well which will be cheaper. If your interested, please let me know.

Thank you,
Maya

True. If it has a Dixie Hwy address , stay away (for the next couple of years anyway).

As for the "letter" streets, the higher up the alphabet you go, the better. That's for the most part. There are some nice homes in the very northern parts of A and B streets (high street numbers). Palm Way, as mentioned, would be P street The lower the house number (on the letter streets), the closer to downtown.

There are some apts by Lake Osborne/John Prince Park (no, not the ones on Congress!) but I don't know if they are all condos.

Oddly enough, you can sometimes get really, really lucky and find a cheap efficiency on the "poor side" of Ocean Ridge. I know a woman who rents a house (2nd one from the beach) on a sidestreet for 800 bucks a month. But that is VERY rare.

Some of the people bought their places dirt cheap years ago and are more interested in keeping the area "Old Florida" than in making money. But you'd have to be really, really lucky, especially with the season being here. The sooner you can get a place, the better.

The "poor side" of Ocean Ridge is next to Briny Breezes, where the billion-dollar trailer park is. It's an interesting place. They haven't sold out to the developers yet!

If you get a room mate or something like that make sure you put your agreement in writing for later.
