My husband and I, along with our twin 4 year old boys are moving to the Jupiter/WPB area. We are looking for family communities, and preferably with new construction. From past experience, I feel you are able to meet new people more easily when everyone is new to a community.
From previous visits I have been interested in Rialto, but not sold on it. I have appreciated the communication about Rialto, but was also interested in peoples opinions on Paloma and The Preserve at Bay Hill. We are looking at houses in the $500,000 range, and any advice is appreciated.

My wife and I looked at several new home developments in Jupiter/WPB and we loved the homes built by Kolter in Paloma...our set back was the price of the lots...$65,000 and up to $215,000...and yes I no about the $5,000 lots that back up to Military Trail...just a little to noisy for us...the other thing we did not like was the size of the lot 50 x 120...

DiVosta...nice homes but it is mix of town homes and homes...just not for us.

Rialto...we purchased in Rialto...the Executive side...not the retirement house of my dreams...but it fits our needs and the community seems nice...you might be more interested in the Estate side where the homes/lots are bigger...

You could try this site for new home builders www.newhomesource.com

Thanks rusty78, I have read previous posts from you, and have found them helpful. Do you enjoy living in Rialto? Do you have an age range of the community? We are in our 30's with young children.

Rialto and Paloma are nice, will be plenty of younger families there. Bay Hill is WAY off the beaten path compared to the other two. You have Loxahatchee/Acreage to the SW (redneck), Ibis (retirees) to the East with lots of swamp land all around. Bay Hill is on its 2nd wind of development, 1st was about 15-20 years ago and they sold their golf course to PGA Nat'l (to get rid of the burden). New developer came in and started development again in the last couple years. Traffic is heavy going East in the morning, heavy going West in the afternoon. Biggest detraction to Bay Hill is the 5+ miles you have to travel everywhere you want to go with the exception of Publix (and even that is closing and moving west to new location).

FYI, Osprey Isles across from Bay Hill has been a nightmare for most residents. Zero lot line, high HOA (due to so many foreclosures) and falling values like a nuclear accident happened recently! Shelby Homes built it new (construction was ok, maybe a little sloppy at times) but they have another tract of land next to OI and they put it up for sale rather than build a new subdivison. The other slight concern with OI was the first 20 or so homes in the community get a view of the maintenance shed for the cemetary next door (yep, unused crypts piled 3-5 high on the horizon). Cemetary made headlines a few years ago when they got caught double/triple burying bodies......ooops.

We are not there yet...hopefully July of this year...our house is just entering the permit stage...as far as age groups...when we visited in August and December of last year there were plenty of young children learning to ride their bikes and still more in the community center using the pool...so I am sure you will find plenty of younger couples in your age group...

Like City Guy said...Bay Hill is out of the way...it was not available when we were looking...but we would of eliminated just on location...but the builder - GL Homes - builds a really nice home...we looked at the ones in Boyton Beach...but did not like the area...our neighbor bought a house last year in one of their developments and they really love it...so I am sure Bay Hill will be the same...

We ended up in Jupiter based upon recommendations from my wife's step mother who sells real estate in Fort Lauderdale...apparently there are alot of people selling in Miami/Fort Lauderdale areas and moving up to the northern part of Palm Beach County and Southern Martin County...

Rialto has just increased their prices by $6,000 in the Executive Section for homes and I am sure they increased the lot prices as well...so I am sure the Estate Section is next...our first visit to Rialto was April 2012...and since then they have increased their prices by $18,000...

Try these 2 sites for info about moving to Florida www.myflorida.com and www.stateofflorida.com both offer information that you will be seeking in time if you take the plunge to move down...

We are going back down again in late April to see how the house is going. You can PM me and I will be happy to share some information with you....

Castellina in Wellington is very nice as well. Only one story plans, but the homes are well laid out and it is very close to shopping and restaurants.

For any of the communities, particularly Rialto, is there a good selection of move-in ready homes or more buy and build? We would likely be wanting a house to move into rather than go the building route.

Every community has models available...all you have to do is visit the web site and click on the homes available section...Rialto has 8 or 10 homes in the estate section and the executive section has 3...they also have several building permits filed for other homes in both sections...you will get the best deal on an inventory home...

Paloma also has some inventory homes available..just check their website...they are also building several spec homes which I am sure are not sold...just look at the site map and there are alot of blue dots indicating that they are building homes...or better yet just call them...

I was in Rialto this morning and it was bustling with workers. Probably 20 homes under construction right now (various stages) with many more lots cleared and getting prepped for foundations. I did notice a few "Available Now" signs on homes though the ones I noticed backed up to Island Way (and the baseball/soccer fields/lights etc).

I think that will be an outstanding community when finished. The homes are large and the lots seem a lot bigger than most homes in that price point. Not 100% sold on the "rock front" architecture though, I think that might "date" the home very quickly when it goes out of style (think Brady Bunch, California Contemporary).
