I watched the documentary on Kings Point on HBO......That place is a prison for old people serving "the rest of their life sentences!" If you pulled one liner's from the documentary they could easily be inserted in a prison documentary......"We play cards, schedule is Tues/Thurs this, Friday that, the grounds are nice" but their tone indicates they are there against their will (like in prison)!

The postings by the mailboxes showing the handwritten notes of all the recently deceased, the notes about who is in the hospital and the interviews with the people was truly sad......no matter what the income level. Most of the interviews noted they loved the weather but should have never moved to Kings Point (getting away from family later in life has consequences).

I have to say its enough on this topic as it has beaten to death...people thinks it sucks, its run down and blah blah blah, you do know that everything in life isnt for everyone...At the end of the day there are people that like living there and there are people that don't..Again my parents like it for what it offers and they are upper middle class and all their friends are the same...

For people who are interested in this Community need to go and visit and look at what is available and see if its something you are looking for and please stop listening to everyone and see for yourself and form your own opinion..I will say MOST of South Florida is like this for these type of communities unless your going to Build or buy newer and you can spend 400k plus if that is the case then a community like that might work for people looking for that...

I think what people forget is how many seniors live on such a tight budget and have a hard time making ends meet financially. Many have retired due to age but are not wealthy and have little family support. These communities allow them to live very cheaply, near others who are of similar age, give them transportation if needed.
The comments about being run down on the outside well what do you expect when the condo is less then some cars. You can't get something for nothing and have to be realistic. I saw the starting price of these are 20,000 and I did not even know you could get a condo or any living environment for this little. So of course there going to look like section 8 but for a senior who is not working and has little retirement at least it gives them a roof over their head.
There may be a few people who have money and for what ever reason they pick there to live or have for a vacation home but in my opinion the majority of people are on a very tight budget.

hello: I live in Charlotte NC and havejust purchased in KP for 25,000. i am a single female Boomer who is sick of the struggle of the high rent, low wages in NC so made the decision, even tho I think they indeed look like barracks on the outside, to sacrifice some comfort for the lower prices. I do hope once the old guard passes away, they make their condo rules for a new generation of retirees. One of them being the no pets rule. Boomers were the 1st generation to view their pets as family. FYI go to: petsincondos.org website. For now I have to be content being 6 miles away from the ocean, like when I lived on Long Island. I must say I was not pleased with the arrogance and attitude I experienced in the office on the premises. But you dont have to socialize, you can create a new life downtown with people of similar interests at church functions as well.

cheap condo's yes, but the monthy HOA fee's are over 300.00, thus many of the more senior women who are there alone struggle. If they've been there for a while they've seen those fee's more than triple. As for the poster who's been in Delray for 16 years, you should have seen it in the early 90's. You'd have needed an AK 47 to go downtown after dark.

$300 covers everything but electric. For about $400 a month you it covers everything and that is a high number? If you have a non HOA house you still have to pay for cable, internet, water, garbage pick-up. I not living there but for those who like it it is a great deal!

Any insider updates? Rubbing elbows with the 1%r's that supposedly live there (according to some posters)?

If you have money, you live in Harbour's Edge or Abbey Delray.
