I'm a full-time Rver (live in my motorhome) I did the professional, college career type corporate work thing for 22 years. Now I travel, setup and live on my terms. I'm thinking to drift into Southern Florida. Even in this crappy economy, I've been able to at least land part time work making $1000 per month which is all I need to sustain myself, as I also have a small rental income coming in. Usually it takes me 7-14 days to find. "something"

So my question is, are there jobs of any kind to be found in southern Florida? I can even work fast food for a few months if need be. How about non profit type jobs?

Thanks in advance for any advise anyone can give. And to those who are critical of my lifestyle? Well, I've been at it for 7 years and have no regrets! I've lived on my terms, although often thrifty, it's been awesome! I wake up each day looking forward to the next big adventure. Nothing like waking up on the beach, or in the mountains, or anywhere peaceful. Thought I would give Florida a try for a bit.

Check on what they charge for a pad here, might be steeper than places you frequented. Also a lot of competition for those fast food jobs.

I am envious of your lifestyle choice . As someone who is shackled to my corporate job where the # of hours and stress increases exponentially on what feels like a daily basis (not to mention getting older by the minute..), it really sounds like you are on to something.

As THX said, the rents here are high but it sounds like you will be living in your RV, so that won't be an issue for you. WRT to work if you are flexible on pay and open minded to the work itself (which it sounds like you are), I don't think you should have a problem. We have been renovating our older home for the past 18 months and our builder had a really tough time keeping good people. My experience here is that in the service / trade industries is that people don't want to work very hard. So if you have a good work ethic you shouldn't have a problem getting and keeping a position.

Pads meaning RV sites, I always see them with a pad of concrete and hook-ups.

Notice the seasonal rates here, which can vary.

Thanks for the tips! Well, then I'm gonna go for it. Yes, I have a very strong work ethic and a plethora of references.

Klaucka, yep, been there did that for 22 years. High pressure, high stress on the treadmill of, "gotta make more and move on up" only to have more bills, more responsibilities, etc. I can always go back to that and die young if need be. Now I live fairly thrifty and free and love it! My RV is very nice though, no run down trailer, it's a condo on wheels, so that helps. But I've never had it along the beach and want to give that a try.

I'm just concerned cause I read posts on here of people trying to get any ole job for 18 months, even McDonalds with no success. Funny thing is, I have gotten offered positions at about 90% of any and all jobs I've ever applied for over my life, so hopefully that luck won't run out in Florida.

"Season" and the holidays are approaching, so you shouldn't have a problem. If you're good, "seasonal" help is often converted into permanent. There are at least a couple of restaurants in Cityplace/downtown West Palm Beach which are opening up and advertising as hiring right now. People I know in retail management are also telling me they are starting their hiring. A new outlet mall is being built in WPB which will need to be filled with part time employees. The recruiters are already all over the local retail management talent pool, trying to fill management positions.

If by 'college' you meant working in colleges in your OP, there are lots of community colleges and FAU, the uni in this area, that may be hiring.

Check out their websites, I think by state law they must list all jobs.
