I am moving with my boyfriend to Fort Lauderdale from New Jersey. We are in our mid twenties. I am looking for an area that has a younger crowd with fun things to do. We would like to live in a nice neighborhood and we do not want the city feel ( I grew up in New York City, I am done!). My boyfriend is from Missouri then lived in Tampa for six months and absolutely hated it.

I was wondering if anyone knew of good neighborhoods in the area to buy a house. We are open to anything from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale. I am excited and appreciate any feedback! Thank you

Which of these would you most prefer:

1) Fun suburban life with character?
Palm Beach Gardens prosperity farms near Gardens mall
Or perhaps Juno Beach area
North end of Palm Beach County

Broward county: Deerfield Beach

2) more like Southern California happy and pleasant, golf/tennis? But no worry about appearance or class or perception ...everyone just simmers in the convenient Florida living
Weston,
Wellington,
Davie,
Plantation
Coral Springs

3)
Vacation-like
Aventura, North Miami Beach

For south Miami for lots of diversity and mixed wealth all together and quiet contrast from Miami, try Kendall, Florida. It's a nice cultural suburban sprawl with lots of shopping plazas

i would also add delray beach atlantic/downtown to your list. the downtown area has a lot going on and the crowd is younger. it is a beach village feel, so while there are a lot of people it isnt really designed to be a high rise city kind of design. west palm beach city place would be more urban as far as florida city living goes but coming from NYC you might consider it suburban! another area would be las olas in fort lauderdale.

East Delray is getting really expensive (ok it has been expensive for years but now it really is getting out of hand for 40+ year old houses!). It is cool but Atlantic Ave is very, very busy (trendy, cool but no parking, expensive for everything). I wouldn't want to wade through that every night going home!
