Hello everyone, I created this thread a few days ago: //www.city-data.com/forum/west-...s-jupiter.html I have done some research on this site, but I wanted to get the general consensus on some property to buy in and around West Palm Beach that is safe and reasonable in-line with what I'm looking for. Here are my criteria:

  • I currently work in Jupiter, near the intersection of HWY 1 and Indiantown Road.
  • I am a single male in my late 20's, so I'd like to stay in Palm Beach County with vicinity to the nightlife.
  • My budget is 150-200k, depending on the HOA fees. I'd prefer a 2BR/2BA property with a low or no HOA fee (the condos around here all have high HOA fees, which cuts desirability down. Therefore, places such as Jupiter's Abacoa and PBG's San Matera may unfortunately be out).
  • Somewhere non-sketchy and decently safe. Examples: I've read that Briar Bay off Jog Road has Section 8 tenants. In addition, I've looked at properties in the neighborhood north of the PBG Mall (off Florida Blvd.) and I really didn't like that location either.

I am currently looking in some areas of Jupiter, PBG, and the western part of West Palm (Royal Palm Beach area). I believe Wellington might be too far of a commute to-and-from work. In addition, my co-worker commutes from Boynton Beach, and his commute is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. What is the general consensus on areas I should be looking at, with regards to my criteria?

You do realize that the hoa fee covers exterior insurance in most cases of townhouses/condos. So whether you pay $200 a month to the HOA or you pay an insurance company $2400 a year for a single family residence it ends up being the same money.

Good luck with your search....

Not to derail the thread, but it depends on the HOA contract; some HOAs do not cover exterior insurance.

You are correct but in your post you mentioned condos, in any type of "group housing" the HOA fee will certainly cover exterior building insurance. Also at the 150-200K mark, single family stuff in good neighborhoods is very rare, leaving with condos/townhouses to choose from.
