Can someone give me a run down of some of the beaches in the area?

We will be staying in WPB for 3 weeks. We have 10 and 7 year old daughters, and for the last week, 16 and 13 year old nieces.

We'd want it to have life guards.

I don't know how much the terrain varies, but a beach without a steep drop off would be nice. The calmer, the better.

Also, since we don't live here, it would be easier to buy food on the beach rather than bring a picnic. I see that the Four Seasons has a restaurant on the beach, but that will get too pricey to go to frequently. On the other hand, we're not looking for a beach with a lot of 20-something drinkers.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

.... Lake Worth Beach is probably a good bet. Family friendly, as it provides bathrooms, lifeguards, and has a shopping plaza with pizza, ice cream, and mulligan's restaurant. There's also a restaurant on the pier.

Lake Worth beach has all your needs. It has been remodeled, very walkable with restaurants along the beach that includes ice cream, pizza and other types along with touristy shops.
