I absolutely cannot stand living on Long Island. It is a great place in many respects, but in my opinion, the cons definitely outweigh the pros - especially for my nervous, neurotic personality type Anyone who is from Long Island can definitely attest to the sheer population density, the horrible traffic and poorly designed roads, and let's not forget the people I have lived here all my life and have slowly become more and more sick of it.

I have family from NY who have lived in Lake Worth for many, many years. I have been visiting the area every year since I can remember and, on the whole, really like it down there a lot. Come summer, I plan on moving down there in search of a job and hopefully to start a life. I am open to anywhere really as long as it is in Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami-Dade counties.

Please share your experiences - Do you like living down there? Is it possible to make a decent living? Do you regret the move? What are the pros and cons?

Responses from young transplants from Long Island/NJ would be ideal, but responses from anybody are much appreciated!!!

I think you would find the area just as busy as long island in some aspects but it is very nice area to live for all ages and particularly since you sound young I would suggest looking at college campuses and the immediate vicinity surrounding them for tons of people your age an notable mention to Miami Beach and Ft. Lauderdale which are cool places with lots of things to do. As far as jobs it really depends on what field you are in which determines the wage you would make. South Florida is getting expensive but I don't think that should stop you from moving here an starting your life.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I love that there is life down there and things to do. As someone who has lived in Long Island for 22 years and has visited SE Florida extensively, it is not nearly as crowded and densely populated as Long Island.
