My husband, son and myself will be relocating to the Boca Raton area this summer. I would like to get some ideas as to what areas we should look at. We would be renting for at least the first year. I am looking for a family oriented community that is not outrageous when it comes to monthly rent. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has a ball park range on costs that would also help. Thanks in advance!

You will spend $1500 minimum for a basic 2/2 apartment in a 40 yr old complex. Boca is expensive for renting!

Good luck....

Boca is expensive so maybe you should look further up in Wellington.

I think Boca Raton is worth whatever the x-tra rent you'd pay unless you're on a very tight budget.I would want to be east of 95 where you can walk to a lot of stores, library, etc.Summer is a good time to find a rental as the snowbirds fly north. If you can't be east of 95 then as close to 95 as possible, the mall and lots of shopping is nearby. The areas around the college should have rentals, also check craigslist, realtors can be very helpful. If at all possible buying would probably be cheaper than renting if thats an option. Prices have started to recover as the boomers retire. I've kept a place in Boca for years so I'm a bit bias, clean, safe, beautiful small city that you really can't go wrong by choosing.

Also I need some information on the schools in or around Boca Raton. My son will be in the 6th grade this coming year and want to make sure we get him into a great school!

Thanks for all the replays so far, they have been very helpful!

I plan to relocate to Florida in late 2016 to a gated active 55+ retirement community in Palm Beach County.
I am retired teacher, with plans to continue contributing to the greater external community wherever I live through volunteerism. My lifestyle includes, but not limited to: - education, aquatic, theatre, enjoy learning, reading, and when budget allows…traveling. I hope that I can live within short driving distance to good shopping, city entertainment and a Baptist Church.
With a budget of $180,000, I want to purchase a 2 bedroom/ 2.1 bathroom townhome or mid rise condo in a clean, safe and multicultural community. Due to allergy, I need to live in a community with no pet allowed restriction.
Can you suggest a few well managed, active communities in Boca Raton with homes within my price point that I could visit? Thank you.
