I am considering a move to South Florida but am not sure which city would be better within the Palm Beach County area. I see homes in Wellington, Lakeside, Riviera Beach, North Palm Beach, South Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and others. I am wondering if anyone can explain the differences in all these different areas within the same county. I understand they are different cities, but they seem to be in the same general area give or take 20 miles. Is there an area to steer clear of while looking for a place?

Thanks in advance for any tips, suggestions and warnings.

Kerri

Where do you plan to work? What is your budget? Do you have kids/public school concerns? Do you desire to be close to the water?
No different here than any other metropolitan area of similar area/population...

Yeah I would say you would need to figure out what is important to you. Its important as others indicated above to know if schools are important, shopping, near beach. Those kind of things are important to guide you. Let us know and I would be happy to make recommendations of areas.

I may be a bit biased, but I love living in Wellington. I moved here in 1984 because it was a very well maintained community....there were no run down shacks next to a beautiful manicure homes. The Village of Wellington has a department dedicated to keeping the city ordinances up to par, homes painted properly, landscape maintained, lawns mowed, no broken down cars parked in front of someones home. The Village of Wellington has communities that are gated, not gated, HOA, NO HOA, Manned guard gate communities etc. The schools are rated very highly and Wellington has been mentioned several times in Money Magazines Top 50 places to live, Top 100 Places to live etc. There are numerous public playgrounds for kids, we have a huge Aquatic Center with swimming lessons and diving lessons, public tennis courts, Amphitheatre that holds weekly concerts, movies and Wellington Idol contests, Annual Egg Hunt and so much more.
We have the Wellington Mall with Nordstrom, Macy's etc. Trader Joes, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Publix. During the winter months Wellington is home to WEF ( Wellington Equestrian Festival) which has horses and riders from all over the world come together to compete in Dressage, Hunter/Jumper etc. Olympians will even come to compete! We have world class Polo Matches every Sunday. These events are free to get into...sometimes you have to pay $10 -$20 for parking. We are further inland but still only 20 minutes to the beaches. 15 minutes to the airport, 45 minutes to Ft Lauderdale. Great Place to Live!
