I will be moving to Boca from the NE in August. I will need to rent at first but will end up purchasing a place. Are there any unsafe areas I should avoid? My rental budget is $1.5k, mostly because I will still be paying a full mortgage on my home in CT, so less the better!

Thanks!

Anywhere that is 1500 will be a marginal area.......good luck!

The price exceptions will be the retirement communities (but you have to be over 55) and the college apartment areas.

Are there any specific areas you'd recommend I avoid? Once my home in CT is sold, I can swing 2500/month, but until then, it's going to be limited. Maybe I should look into a long term hotel stay.

What are you looking for a house or a 1/1 condo?

Have you started looking on sites like realtor.com?

Whatever I can get for 1k, and yeah, I've been looking. There are some, but just need to know about questionable areas that I'd have to avoid. If not areas, then complexes?

I'm fine with marginal since it will be short term, but are they unsafe? Violent crime, etc

Anything at that price is going to be in a crappy area. I'm not sure you're understanding the responses you've received?

I am understanding they aren't going to be in the nicest area, and I'm fine with not being in an affluent neighborhood for the short term, since it will just be myself and not my family. But what is "crappy" or "marginal"? Just aesthetically unpleasing? Or is there high crime in certain areas, etc? Are there a lot of downright unsafe areas in Boca?

I'm from CT and don't know this area of FL too well - so my definition of crappy may differ from those in the Boca area.
