I don’t know if you would qualify for something like the LaJoya apartments ( and it’s none of my business) but they are pretty nice and relatively new and in your price range.

There are some older neighborhoods that may have mother in law cottages for rent.

They are for people with incomes below a certain level.?I don’t know if they call it subsidized or not. In any case, it’s not “the projects”.

The best way to find them online is to google LaJoya Villages rentals Lake Worth.
The links I try to post just go to apartments.com and lakeworthcra.org instead of the LaJoya info.

Apparently there’s a waiting list? Not sure.

There are several LaJoyas so make sure it’s Lake Worth.

It might be a good idea to check out lakeworthcra.org for some ideas.

They get grants to help people buy and remodel homes. I don’t know what they have going right now.

I’ve been in a couple of the houses that have been remodeled etc. Some of them are just too cute and the owners are so appreciative and proud.

Lake Worth is also known for its Guatemalan-Maya Center. http://www.guatemalanmaya.org/

Wow! This is great info, muchisimas gracias
My family is Ecuadorian and my children are me plus their other half of indigenous Mexican from their dad. I would love to visit the Guatemalan center as I have some good friends from Guate. As far as the LaJoya rental, that's awesome, and a good fit for us potentially. I wouldn't want it to be a forever thing, as I'm a motivated and would love to own a home someday. A mami with goals, haha. I'm thinking of calling the LaJoya offices to get a taste of what it's like. I did track some of their properties on apartment finder and forrent.com. I saw that the offices offer bilingual amenity which is cool.
It could be a door opener for us. I did read though that the schools around the area were poorly rated, which put me in a sceptical place. Good schools for my kids are my top priority. Not sure if perhaps going to the low rated schools listed is mandatory? I hope there is some info on this.

Also, I forget to ask this earlier. What is the difference between subsidized housing and low income housing? I'm sure we could qualify somewhere because of the higher prices in FL. I've never lived in a low income complex or such. I've lived in tough areas yes, but it wasn't an organized apartment complex community which it seems these properties are.

I've been peeping around and one of the school districts was very unappealing to me to say the least (bullies and two cases of lawsuirs? No way!). imI'm going to keep looking and see what other properties there are and what the school district is like.

Check out Wellington! I have lived here since the early 1980's and love it. Great schools for the little ones. Lots of community parks and playgrounds as well. Community pool, amphitheater that has free concerts, movie nights, "Wellington Idol contest" and lots more. VERY family oriented. Wellington is a little more expensive but worth it in my opinion. Not as expensive as Boca, Delray or PB Gardens though. I bet you would find lots of cleaning jobs down here too! I have a friend who does that and makes a good living. There are some communities that you could "market" to. Binks Forest, Aero Club etc.Feel free to ask me any questions..

Your budget for a two bedroom in a decent neighborhood should be $1500.

Keep in mind sketchy neighborhoods here can be deadly.

Hey guys it's been a minute! I have made a few calls to some apartment communities and am still planning on visiting with my kids in the winter. I also was wondering about maybe if they have houses for rent..this is a huge goal for me and it's a day by day journey. I don't want to rush it. I guess just checking in here but it's always great to use any info. I'm very spiritual and this move and new start is more than just relocating with my kids..i believe to genuinely reach a goal, it's best to be accepting of obstacles and not forcibly rush things. I honestly just take it step by step and enjoy the ups and downs of the journey. I plan on bettering my work skill too, which is significantly more productive than simply saving money every month.
Again I think being there physically and getting the feel of different neighborhoods and such and the vibe is a lot more productive than seeing pictures and mentally brainstorming. Anyways guys, thanks for any info and look forward to my updates if you're interested Buenas noches from Michigan!
