I’m looking to rent a condominium downtown WPB for myself and my two teen daughters. They have lived in rural areas and now in suburbia. I’d like to give them some exposure to life in a “city”. They can continue to go to school in Wellington. Are the downtown and City Place areas safe for families? Also, is the commute from WPB to Welly a nightmare? I’m thinking we will be going against the traffic, but I could be wrong. Thanks for the insight.

Hi, as a Wellington resident as well, I don't think the trip is too bad, but can be at certain times (i.e. rush hour). When my wife and I go to WPB, I take the back roads behind Stribling which dumps you off at Southern. Turn Right on Southern and go East until you hit Australian then take it to City place. I find this to be the "cleanest" route, avoiding turnpike and 441 traffic. I recommend you google a crime mapping website and enter the address you're interested in to get a feel for what is going on in the community.

Best,

Matt

I'm partial to Western areas. City place is on the edge of the hood and is struggling for other reasons, mostly competition from other complexes.

Okeechobee is a zone where north of it there is some crime spill over, South of it and it gets pretty bad. So keep that in mind.

West Palm is a good area overall though. Just enough here for variety and plenty of nice areas to choose from.
