Can anyone recommend any insurance companies for a new home I am looking to purchase. I know with all the hurricanes the last couple of years premiums have gone up but I'm told they are also starting to come back down to earth because of the last two years. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go with the best price of those few insurance companies that are actually writing new policies. Sorry can't give you any better advice, had to go with Citizens (state run insurance) in my area, as they were the only ones writing new policies last year in my area of South Florida.

When we lived in S. Fla we had Liberty Mutual. As far as Insurance Companies go, I think they were the best. Easy to work with and good customer service. I don't know how their rates match with other companies, but Insuance in Fla is expensive with any company.

Smile Insurance

Yes, insurance has really come down. In fact, I am seeing many of the old levels of 2004 and before.

If you have hurricane shutters, home built after 1995 (or better yet 2002), alarm system or alarm monitored, new roof, you may be in even better shape!

On a new home, you will do fine. Remember, you only need to cover the dwelling.
