I am looking for advice for a young family looking to move to Jupiter. I have a 7, 9, and 11 year old. We are actually from MD, but have been living in Carlsbad, CA. Carlsbad has been great for the kids with lots of sports, excellent schools, and every outdoor activity you can imagine. We are leaving do to the governor here continuing to keep everything locked down. Kids still have no school or sports. He even closed the beaches and parks for months. Carlsbad is conservative unlike most of CA. I don't like the direction things are going here.

I am not worried about the humidity, but need advice in helping to pick the best area. My research shows me that the schools are amazing in Jupiter. How are the people? Looking to avoid the spoiled, entitled, keep up with the Jones type areas. There is some of that where I am now, but for the most part its great families and kids with good morals and values. I've heard good things about Jupiter Farms, but it feels far from the beach.

We are also looking at Ponte Vedra Beach, Naples, and Venice. I am also open to other recommendations if someone has one. If any one has advice on any of the above it would really be appreciated. We are really looking for this to be our last move and want to put our children in the best possible environment around the best like minded people. Thank you so much.

Plenty of great places to live in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach. All comes down to your budget. Although if you are coming from Carlsbad I'm sure you will be find prices to be fine.

Ponte Vedra, Naples and Venice are extremely slow. Sure Palm Beach County has a ton of retirees but those other areas are really full of mostly retired folks and a very slow pace of life. Nice areas to visit but living there if you are under 65 seems very boring.

PBC you at least have a mix of retirees and working families. Also, if you are craving more action you are just a short drive down to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

We just moved to Jupiter after spending 6 years in Delray Beach. We absolutely love it. Yes it is much sleepier than Delray (we lived downtown), but for us we like the less less touristy feel and more choice in outdoor activities. The beaches are much more natural and the parks (Riverbend, Jonathan Dickinson) offer additional choices for outdoor activity beyond the beach- kayaking in Riverbend is fantastic. While our kids are grown, the town seems much more family friendly, we see kids riding their bikes around and socializing. While I am sure there is some keeping up with the Joneses in the big HOA (Abacoa) , the overall feel of the town is very friendly - much more so than southern PBC which has less of a family friendly vibe and feels more transient. And I agree with previous poster, Jupiter is much closer to airports and other more ‘city’ areas (e.g., arts in West Palm Beach) as well.

As you said, the Jupiter schools are top notch. Boca is as well, but that is an entirely different vibe than Jupiter.

Hi Mx,

Honestly, it was a very tough decision - and Delray is really on the upswing. The pros are that there is so much there, very convenient - and a LOT going on. We were on the east side on George Bush, near downtown. Close to beach, town, restaurants. The con was that we were on a very busy street, and it was only getting more congested. There is a lot going on, but the downside of that is that it is very touristy and becoming a real party place - and we are past that point in our lives . We also wanted more of a country feel where we could have all of our animals (we want to start a small rescue), which is why we went to Jupiter. Delray is much more 'city'ish' (for a smaller town if that makes sense) with Jupiter being much quieter, natural beauty, and family friendly. In hindsight if we hadn't been making this decision in the middle of a pandemic, we probably would have kept our Delray house as a rental property (damn that Covid!). But we are very happy here in Jupiter, love the quiet, parks, and more natural beach. The other downside (rarely talked about) is the sober home issue in Delray - there are a lot of the east side, especially where we were on George Bush. We once had someone sleeping and partying in our shed - have some coffee on a Saturday AM looking out our sliders and this poor woman comes stumbling out of our shed .

Also, if you have children I do not think the public schools in Delray are good. Jupiter and Boca, yes - Delray no.

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions, I can give you all the scoop.
