As for WPB, I could not find a 1 bedroom apartment downtown for less than $3,000 a month. I ended up getting a 1 bedroom in Northwood for $2,175, which is also ridiculous but not quite so ridiculous.

It gets cheaper the further away from the water you get, but all rents (and home prices) are still inflated at this point. Hopefully things start to come down now that interest rates are skyrocketing and we're in a recession.

Thanks for the tips
I'll check Northwood
I would not mind moving far from the water but I also noticed that most walkable downtown areas are located closer to the water than farther from the water
I was I guess under the wrong impression that rentals would go down if I looked further up north of Ft Lauderdale without having to go farther north than WPB

Pales how exactly? WPB has a real downtown with a Brightline stop. Delray is literally a long strip on East Atlantic with zero tall buildings/density. I will agree that Delray gets very busy Thursday night through Sunday, but again it’s because of it being only one street (great restaurants though).

WPB has all of clematis and Rosemary Square/The Square so its activity is more scattered around and not concentrated in one area.

I live in WPB and our downtown pales in comparison to Delray. Especially for what you're looking for - restaurant bar options and people watching.

Delray attracts far more people than WPB and has more and better options for dining and cocktails.

Hmmm. Your best bet is to just go to Clematis in WPB or Atlantic in Delray.

As for WPB, some places I like are:

Spruzzo - high end but great view https://www.thebenwestpalm.com/rooftop/

Elisabettas - https://www.elisabettas.com/

O'Shea's Pub - closest thing to a dive bar in downtown WPB, outdoor bar O'Shea's Irish Pub – Downtown West Palm Beach // 531 Clematis St.

As for Delray, my usual hangouts are

Johnnie Browns - Live music (usually appropriate for my age of 50) https://johnniebrowns.com/

Throw Social - Recently opened, South Beach in Delray, female-owned and operated, younger and gets crowded https://www.throwsocial.com/delray

I like El Camino for a some pretty good Mexican food too: https://elcaminodelray.com/

But, there's plenty more in both locations to keep you occupied. Since you're staying in WPB, you should be aware of Clematis By Night:

I forgot to mention the Farmer's market, which is top notch and returns on October 1st. Not sure when you're visiting:
