My husband is considering accepting a job in WPB. We are in our early 30's and have one young daughter. We want to be in an excellent school system and in a sub-division with lots of young children and outgoing, social families. It seems as though we should be in Jupiter or Wellington. Any thoughts or sub-division suggestions?

It really matters where the job is located. West Palm Beach is a very large area. East-West traffic is a nightmare. Is the job actually in the city of West Palm Beach? Sometimes people lump all locations as WPB when they are actually Royal Palm Beach, Loxahatchee, Palm Beach Gardens etc...

Ruffles, then you should look towards Jupiter or Palm Beach Gardens, as that is slightly North of West Palm Beach.

Wellington et al is nice, but you'd have to truck in from the West, and cut across the busiest part of the highway to reach Riveria/Mangonia area (I assume this is off 45th street?).

Best subdivisions in Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens area for families are (IMO): Abacoa, Evergrene, North Palm Beach Heights, Egret's Landing, Palm Beach Country Estates. Though of course it depends on your budget. There are only a couple of not-so-nice areas in Jupiter, but by and large the entire city is livable.

When I read "lots of young children and outgoing, social families," my first thought for Jupiter was Egret Landing. The subdivision is overflowing with young kids and the neighbors are (IMO) overly friendly. Some people like that (I don't). Many of the moms are very social and play tennis together, too.

We don't want to spend over $425,000 for a home. In fact, I'd love to find something for slightly less. Do you think these neighborhoods in Jupiter are out of our league?

Ruffles, no. As a matter of fact, you can get good homes these days for that price range.

Do you want an HOA or no HOA?

Some examples of homes in the area:

Thanks so much for doing all that research! I know that I want a gated community whether or not there is a HOA. I'm just curious as to why no one has mentioned anything about Wellington. After doing a little research of my own, I thought that Wellington or Jupiter were going to be just what we were looking for. Am I wrong?
