Hmmm, I was gonna say, there is much of East Lake Worth, north of downtown LW and East of Dixie Highway that is quite nice, with some really beautiful and well kept neighborhoods, including Parrot Cove and College Park.

I know at least two people that live in that area and love it, though they have also commented that South of downtown it starts to get sketch.

There were police driving around Chapel hill yetsreday between 12 and 4pm, a very heavy presence for a solid 4 hrs. I called the PD and they said no cause for alarm, they were just looking for someone.

For 4 hrs in unmarked vehicles!

I definately got the feeling I was not being told the truth.

Word is, a community center/no frills bus-stop/ PD station is the topic of conversation within City Hall. I don't have details on who is saying what but keep in mind it might just be a bunch of hoopdadoo but some folks are talking about it. They are focused on the school bus-stop pick-up location at Seacrest and Chapel Hill Blvd. Currently parents park on the lawn up and down C-Hill Blvd restricting the flow of traffic. Unfortunately it is not thier fault and they must park somewhere to monitor their children. The idea of a no-frills parking lot with PD presence or surveillance cameras and a small community structure is perfect. Allows parents to park and drop off their children while they wait for the bus. Also provides peace-of-mind having surveillance or PD presence. Another member made a comment about bike patrol officers, this is a start, it might work. Make this the bike patrol headquarters and school-bus pick-up/drop off. Fantastic idea, Kill 5 birds with 1 stone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Main priority being children safety and secondary neighbourhood police presence. Real Estate sales will definately increase and crime decrease. An absolute must for our community.

I can't agree with you more Unity. Great plan for this great place. I would guess that if they are talking about it, then thats all theyr'e going to do..................Talk! My experience with City Hall folk has never been very rewarding(my opinion).
I'm wondering if we will have to go to a meeting and either support this structure or not. Are their any officials that even have acknowledged this idea as a good one? Where do we stand and where on earth does the parking lot thing go?

There is no longer a crime problem in Chapel Hill. The Police department swarmed the Chapel Hill area for about a month after this post went up and busted a bunch of criminals and no-good contractors. There hasn't been an incident since. Unfortunately when you live in the best part of town (Chapel Hill and north Delray swinton area) you stand a chance of seeing or hearing about crime. It's all over the country righjt now so we must all accept it. On another positive, homes are selling again in Chapel Hill and Delary. We have had about a dozen sales in the last month (Chapel Hill alone) - FANTASTIC!!!!!! The word is that most were regular resales and not foreclosures which is good. Looks like we're on the move agin everyone, slowly but steadily.

I just moved to the east Boynton area (though slightly north of Boynton Beach Blvd) and I'm terrified to go out at night. The other day I took Seacrest north and nearly had a heart attack!

I do think we need more police out and about. I see them all the time, but they typically stick only to Boynton Beach Blvd. Also, they need to just tear down all those old run-down buildings.... I hear they only recently tore down that KwikMart or whatever it was on Federal where all the drug dealers and "ladies of the night" frequented.

I don't even like to walk the dog at night any more and my neighbor below me actually was mugged just feet from our building! I can't wait to be able to move somewhere else, but as of now this is the only home I can live in.... *sigh*

I think the ideas posted here for increasing surveillance are great and I'm very glad to hear that the police actually stepped up and responded. We MUST improve this neighborhood - whatever it takes!

Curious as to your choice of neighborhoods? North of BB Blvd/Seacrest area is an obvious lower income/high drug/crime area. Once again let me remind you that north of BB Blvd is a lot different than north of Woolbright area/Seacrest and then theres NO comparison to south of Woolbright/hospital area. Why would you move to a place where you are afraid to walk the dog at night? Did you inherit this house/apt ???????

It was a condo that we were renting. It is on the Intracoastal, but still near that area you speak of.

Unfortunately, we had no choice but to move back because the beautiful new home I bought from Standard Pacific in Coconut Creek, FL has Chinese Drywall and I was hospitalized because of it. Naturally, I couldn't stay there. The renter of the Condo decided that she was breaking the lease early and that was the only natural other place we could go.

So, no, I don't want to live there, but I have no choice. :-(

I can't wait until this Chinese Drywall mess is sorted out so I can move back to Broward somewhere safer. *sigh*

sorry bout your luck, I guess you don't order out for Chinese no more!
Is Broward that much safer than Boynton?
Last time I was down there I think it was hit and miss on the neighborhoods.

No, I definitely don't eat Chinese anymore. I'm just disgusted with the whole thing!

There are MANY nice areas of Broward including the one I lived in, Coconut Creek. There are neighborhoods that aren't that nice, but in general I find it's just a different atmosphere than Palm Beach. It's a lot more laid back but more modern at the same time. I just love the vibe.

Plus, the Comcast service in Broward is MUCH better than Palm Beach. LOL I know that's no reason to move counties, but there's days I want to throw the TV out the balcony with this Palm Beach service! LOL
