Hi everyone. We are looking at a house to rent in Palmetto Pines. Is it a relatively safe area? The street had some nicer cars and the homes looked kept up. Just don't know because it's not "gated". Thanks

I have had friends in there and it certainly seemed nice enough. I men, maybe by Boca standards it isn't the top spot, but overall it is certainly acceptable. If you pass on the house pass it my way

That seems like a good area and for myself I would not let the non gated if in a good area decide for me. To me the gated community is so overated. I live in one now but I would rather it be cheaper and not gated. I have odd hours and am out and about and usually feel safe in Boca. Where do you live now or are you coming from out of state? It seems like FL is very big on the whole gated complex but what about other states they don't and things are ok overall.

I agree that gated communities are overrated and would not let that fact deter me. Unless a community is GUARD gated, the gates are really just a facade of security. You can almost always follow another car in the gate and in some communities 2 or 3 cars can follow a car in. Palmetto Pines is not one of Boca's fanciest communities but I think it's a perfectly fine family community. When I was in real estate I rented houses in there and I thought it was a nice area. Don't know about crime stats but most of Boca is safe with the exception of east Boca by Dixie Hwy and Sandlefoot trailer park.

I don't know where Pearl City is, but I'm thinking of the section that runs from about Hidden Valley to Yamato.

That's Delray Manors.

I think it is generally pretty safe there, but not the best area in Boca, no doubt. I lived on the waterfront end of one of those streets (east of Fed in Bel Marra) and never saw any violent crime, but every bike, no matter where we put it, was stolen. . .

And Pearl City is pretty safe. Nice area: one of the older settlements in Boca, designed to house the servants for the Boca Hotel. Even when we were kids and they sold dime bags back there it was very safe compared to delray and deerfield and then they made a rule in Dixie Manor that anyone caught with drugs had to move out and that changed things quickly.

It used to be the only place in Boca where black people were allowed to live.

I live in a guarded gated community and still feel like why? Most other states don't have these it just seems more in FL. I would rather it be cheaper and loose the frills. I had made a comment though about the country club hoa though as well which is unreal to me. I am the minority obviosly though because there would not be so many otherwise. I am not that familiar with the area the poster stated but have you driven around like a mile in each direction? Someone once told me to call the local police and ask about the crime in the area. I am not sure though if you could getthat specific to sub.
