there needs to be some affordable condos in that area. 2-3k+ for a 2 bedroom is just dumb. or maybe i'm just bitter because i can't afford that LOL!

check craigslist and/or a realtor. Those big condo/apt high-rises all around downtown and cityplace are hurting for occupancy and are running good deals. Less than 2K - but around 1500-1800 for 2 BR.

i've been checking on craigslist...there are lots of good deals. but i'm not gonna pay that much for a 2 bedroom. maybe a 3 but not a 2. we may end up in apartments instead of condos!

Yes, there are good deals on Condos: ♦ LIVE RIGHT IN CITYPLACE @ CITY TOWER!! WALK TO ALL THE ACTION!!♦ (http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/apa/1347286294.html - broken link)

Remember, condos downtown may be a bit more expensive in rent, but you may save in the long run if the building includes water and cable, where some apartments do not include that in the rent price.

yep, that's kind of what we're thinking! we found one that included EVERYTHING. i would have paid 1500-1800/month for that...

2-3k is usually for a water view in a nicer building like one/two city. You can get in the majority of the buildings around 1500 for a 2/2, less in some of them. My friend rents a 3/3 in two city with an ocean view for 2800 I think. Not a great investment by any means, but he is a younger bachelor with a decent income...
