Fiance and I are both bankers, and we live in Gainesville, FL. We will be married in the Spring, and we are moving in June (not sure where yet). We have no family in Gainesville. I'm originally from Oklahoma, and Aaron is from Illinois. We have a few family members spread throughout Florida (Port St. Joe/Panama City, Port Richie, and Orlando), and we know we want to stay in Florida. My question is this..."Is Boca a family-friendly place to live?" I have a four year old, and we will be expanding our family soon. We want to stay close enough to family, but still far enough to have our own lives ...any suggestions? Our household income is $62000, we will have no debt, and we would be wanting to rent a home for $1000-$1400/month. Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions! God Bless!

Boca Raton can be a family-friendly place to live, but at $62,000 a year with an expanding family it would be an arduous struggle.

At around $1100-$1400 you could probably rent a relatively modest two bedroom dwelling.

Of course there is branch banking everywhere, but the most lucrative banking sector in Boca Raton is financial/insurance advisor, assuming that you already have a portfolio of high net-worth clients, and $62,000 a year combined does not imply that.

My understanding is that Jacksonville has an expanding middle-office banking services job market. At your level of income you may be better off there, more housing for the buck, etc. Perhaps direct your question to the Jacksonville forum and see what responses you receive.

Good Luck!

I think Boca is safe and well maintained plus near things like shopping and restaurants. The issue you will have is finding a place in that price range. It would be towards the higher end of your price range for a condo or an apartment and probably a 2 bedroom.
