I have been doing some looking at homes near ft. lauderdate, coral springs and west palm beach. It appears you can get alot more home in west palm beach for your dollar. And, the homes are newer. Is this really the way it is or am I missing something? I have a choice of location for a new job between Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. I've ruled out Miami. I need a sanity check on this. It seems to me west palm beach is far better for a family.

Depends on where in West Palm... most of the actual city of West Palm Beach is not new homes. The surrounding cities and suburbs, or unincorporated areas, however, will have newer homes. What area in particular are you looking?

Are you referring to Independence Point and Terracina? Both were built during the boom so they got hit really hard when the market turned. (almost all homes went down, but some of the boom neighborhoods got hit a little harder)
Nice homes though if the tenants haven't wrecked them. Area around the neighborhoods is kind of industrial though. Under the flight path as well, but I'm sure after awhile you get used to it.

Where would your job be located? Check out Smith Farms in your search, it's a bout 15-20 minutes south of West Palm, the homes were built in the late nineties early 2000's.
You can review the school info here GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community or other school sites.
