i realize this is an old thread but I was wondering if OP made the move and is commuting from Jupiter to Boca. It looks like one should expect about an hour commute each way. I work 10 hour days and I'm wondering about tacking on a 2 hour commute. Is it sustainable in the long-term?

It's done by many people - but a nightmare still.
What hours do you work and how much do you hate driving in bad traffic?
Where in Boca is the job?
(Near 95 or the turnpike or?)
You would eventually want to move closer to the job.

It would be a tough commute because you have several traffic jam spots. However, use google maps with traffic turned on... start the GPS from the time you would start your commute and vice versa and you'll know exactly how long your commute will be generally speaking.

It really depends on what time you plan on commuting. I had to commute from West Palm Beach (15 minutes away from Jupiter) to Boca and it always took me 40 minutes without traffic. But during rush hour it can take an hour also depends on road conditions such as weather, construction or accidents.

I am originally from southeast Texas. Houston traffic is oppressive! I also lived in Los Angeles for the last 13 years. Trust me when I say, the traffic between Boca and Jupiter is not a limiting factor. It really depends on what part of Boca your job is located in. If it is in West Boca, you can use the turnpike, which is typically a significantly better option than I-95. Either way, coming from Houston, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I took a job in Delray when I moved to Florida from Atlanta in 2010. I quickly decided to settle in Jupiter. My commute was about 37 miles and about 40 minutes, if I recall. By Atlanta sprawl standards...nothing to blink an eye at.
Heading south in the AM, the backup was usually right about Linton Ave (where I would exit).
Heading north in the PM, the toughest part was usually getting to 95.
It's a fairly mind-numbing drive, but generally fast-moving unless there is an accident.

I think it's worth it if you find making Jupiter your home as amiable as I did. But I wouldn't want the job to be too far south of Linton Blvd or I might change my mind...and search for another job. As I did after a little over a year.

Default Not worth it

The commute is taxing, expensive, dangerous and stressful. It will depend on your aversion to commuting but IMO, it's doable short-term but not sustainable. You could probably get used to it but why would you want to. If you have no choice, you will do it and you'll probably wind up either moving or finding another situation.

I'm with ya. The 405 to the 101 or vice versa. You have to have lived it. Boca to Jupiter, I stop for coffee at 2 McDonalds, and still get to work 15 minutes early. In LA, you exit, you lose.
