Definitely older than Miami and the Orlando area but new stuff pops up all the time. Broward and Miami have more private firms and businesses, PBC doesn't have a lot and doesn't really have any industry other than farming in the Glades (the far western part of the county).

Orlando has a younger vibe and has more private firms with offices there. The people in the Orlando area are more Southern than PBC, PBC doesn't feel very Southern and a lot of people are from the NYC area or the Caribbean--Cubans, Haitians, etc though not as many as the Miami area. The PBC area has more of a beach feel because it's close to the water. The Orlando area has a lot of nice charming old architecture like in downtown Orlando or Winter Park, you don't see much of that in PBC where almost everything was built in the last 30 years.

Next time you come to Palm Beach County I think you really need to explore more. Palm Beach is having its Centennial Celebration this year. Tons of old architecture on the Island, as well as in West Palm Beach (numerous historic neighborhoods built in the 20s - 40s.... dare I say maybe MORE historic architecture than Orlando on balance?)... and also in eastern Delray Beach. Addison Mizner perfected his style in PBC.

The western and northern suburbs of Palm Beach County are new.... but they are suburbs. There is so much more going on in PBC than Wellington!
