Hello all-
I was hoping someone could set my mind at ease. We are interested in moving to jupiter farms because of the amount of land one can get for the $$. We currently live in south florida and it's just too expensive here plus a bit overcrowded!.
My concern though is regarding the cancer cluster. In my research it seems to be concentrated in the loxahatchee area but from what i've seen the issue is also with pratt whitney which I know is located near jupiter farms.
We have a small 16 month old and I am looking to become pregnant anytime so obviously I want to keep my family safe.
Is there anyone that can shed some light and help with this?
thanks in advance!

Experts said there was no cancer cluster but real estate suffered badly.

Jupiter Farms was never in the "cluster area."

When looking in those areas you need to consider being close to paved roads, both communities can be far from civilization if you need to get somewhere and you live in the back of the areas.

We are moving, not because of the cancer cluster though. However, the thought of it has been on our minds. For example, our water well is pretty shallow (we bought the house from someone who had it pu in), I think it is only at 40 feet or so. We have horses next to the well, the neighbor uses heavy pesticides on his lawn etc. How safe is my drinking water at 40 ft depth? Don't know. One of our neighbors is actually one of the people who started the whole cancer cluster thing. I like him, his kids are very nice. Some neighbors might not feel the same though since (as someone said) the property values took a hit. I would venture to say that the properties lost value more due to the large number of foreclosures in the area though.

Anyways, to answer your question directly, who knows? I don't trust the government and I don't trust the corporations and I am happy we are leaving. Is it better elsewhere? Who knows, again, today you can't seem to escape pollution, chemicals and toxins no matter where you are.

thanks for your reply ognend. I think you are right about not being able to escape the toxins now a days though that people use on a daily basis such as pesticides etc...scary thought actually. I guess the best thing is to be able then to prevent contamination??? I haven't yet looked into it but would a great water filters help to take out the pesticides from the drinking water? as I said I haven't had a minute to really research that but I was pretty sure it can.
I don't trust city water either though....ugh seems we need to head for the hills!
