With both kids out of high school, we're looking to move someplace with lower taxes etc. We work at home, so employment is not an issue. We've been in upstate NY, and are contemplating east coast of Florida; my husband has relatives in Kissimmee and I have relatives in Boynton Beach.

We are transplanted originally from NYC, and tend to be liberal and... artsy-craftsy.

While we are not beach lovers, my fantasy house is:
- with 30 minutes of airport
- within 20 minutes of a BJs-Sams-Costco
- a 'destination' within 20 minutes of attractions suitable for college kids and young families
- within 20 minutes of dining (let's say $50 for dinner for 2 adults, no drinks)
- perhaps within 20-30 minutes of a JCC (Jewish community center with healthclub facilities)

I want my grown kids to want to come 'crash' at my place, with their friends, during college breaks.

I want my kids to come stay with us with their future young families, during vacations and have access to beach, pool, boating etc.

I like the low-key feel of Thousand Islands in Upstate NY; but I want the Florida version.

Any suggestions?

Tequesta and Hobe Sound sound like good fits in the SE FL area.

I would definately say Delray Beach or Boca Raton (if you can afford Boca). These fit all of your criteria exactly except "low-key". Boca is a favorite of New Yorkers and Jewish people. Both are great places to live!

thanks John - I'll check them out. Not sure if they are in my price range - I'd like 2500-3000 sq ft, for under $300k
