I'm back again with another post

I was hoping that everyone here could point me in the right direction as to what is a reasonable hourly rate to ask for when being hired for babysitting?

I have been an early childhood teacher for 4 years, have a B.A and M.A and have been babysitting for a solid 10 years. I'm CPR and First Aid certified and have my own car.

My current rate (for Hoboken and Manhattan) is $15/hour. However, I have been told that this is way too high to ask for in South Florida. The only local positions I have seen posted are asking to pay their babysitter $5/hour which is too low for me to even consider.

Thank you in advance for your help! And if you know anyone who needs an occasional babysitter let me know

You are overqualified to be a babysitter, most are looking for a local teenage girl from the neighborhood with a good, honest reputation... With your education, look into tutoring or test taking coach... $10 is good money for a high schooler, and most are taught CPR and first aid in ninth or tenth grade and many have there own transportation...

I actually really enjoy babysitting though. I teach in a classroom setting all day long and am not really interested in being a test taking coach. Also, I realize now that it was silly to post that I have a car. I'm from the New York area where most people do not have their own cars and it's a huge bonus if you do! I have to get used to everyone driving everywhere in Florida, haha

You just have to network within the right circles. I would say95% of my friends will only hire adult babysitters. You will get your rate here.
