Currently living in California will be moving to Florida. Torn between Valencia Reserve (Boynton Beach) and Sarasota area (Cultural capital of Florida). Need some general impressions from those who know, as to which area they would prefer and why.

I don't know much about Sarasota, but the GL Valencia communities are really nice for active adults. Close to Atlantic Ave, most are within a mile or so from a Publix/restaurants, and the amenities are always top notch.
If you don't have to have a new house you'll see a pretty dramatic price difference between a couple year old home and a brand new home.

I don't get how Sarasota could be the "cultural capital of Florida" unless you worked for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. It has a theater house and the Ringling museums are kind of neat but other than that it's not really any different from PBC or other coastal FL areas other than maybe being not as developed as PBC while still having a lot of modern conveniences. Really how many times are you going to go to the theater or the museums? PBC has the Kravis and the Norton and some other stuff and is near Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, I don't think you'd see a big difference between "cultural" stuff to do in PBC or Sarasota County, I think it depends on whether you like the feel of living in either county.
