We're taking the heat over the cold, damp, rainy, windy, humid northeast any day. Grey skies that linger for days, buh bye.

I guess that's why there is chocolate and vanilla.

I'll take the heat any day. And notice how the early mornings are getting less humid? Lovin' it!

I live the summers in Southern Ontario Canada.I have to go north to go to Detroit. My family has owned a house in PBC for 40 years and there is no better place to be.If i didn't need to be here for the job in the summer i would stay full time in Palm Beach. We had 68 days over 90 this summer and 5 over 100%.With 90 % humidity i wanted to go back to PB to cool off.
yes it's hot there in the summer but it's still a lot nicer place to be hot then here.

I could think of some better areas to live in then south florida for a lot of reasons, some mentioned above

anywhere along the intercoastal or A1A north of vero, daytona beach, or quite a few west coast destinations could be just as nice as palm beach to live in

I mean, it's an OK place to live, but there are better places to live.
According to City-Data, Palm Beach County is on par with many other popular areas for business "education wise":

Palm Beach County: Bachelor's degree or higher: 27.7%

Los Angeles: Bachelor's degree or higher: 25.5%

Houston: Bachelor's degree or higher: 27.0%

Chicago: Bachelor's degree or higher: 25.5%

The median income in Palm Beach County is fairly high by national standards. Many people in the healthcare, legal and financial fields. If working for a fortune 500 is what you need, you're right. We've only got one or two of those. Many people here have their own businesses or work for small companies.

The OP is making palm beach county sound like it's this utopian paradise of awesome jobs, big money, and where corporations are locating their headquarters, and that housing is improving "everyday." The fact is it's really not. Housing continues to suffer, jobs are still scarce and there are not many high-paying corporate jobs. I'm not saying there aren't any, but compared to places like Atlanta, DC, NYC, LA, Dallas, etc Palm beach county is small beans.

Outside of west palm and boca, and parts of delray and boynton, Palm beach county is very blah.
It's beautiful, no doubt. But it's not an area known for having high-paying jobs and a stable housing market.

You might want to reconsider the recommendation job wise here: Atlanta top metro area -- for job losses *| ajc.com

It might not be quite as bad where you are as you think.

No. The OP is essentially saying that for society's "winners" (AKA, rich people), Palm Beach offers amenities, restaurants, housing and a tax climate that would be very advantageous for a rich person. And he's right. It's why so many celebrities live here part or full time.

What he's saying vis-a-vis business is that more businesses should be (or will be) attracted here, due to the favorable business climate, low taxes, etc.

It's a gripe of mine that so many of the well heeled who end up living or at least wintering here do not invest in the community beyond charity balls. I would like to see more of them step up and bring their BUSINESS here (at least a satellite office)!
