I'm a single female retiree who is sick and tired of the heat and drought in Texas. I've lived in Colorado and came back to Texas 12 years ago to care for family members. Now I feel trapped here. I've been dreaming about picturesque Florida beaches, parks and park benches with an ocean view, art galleries, coffee shops and senior citizen dances. My hairdresser, who once lived in Florida, said she thinks I would be happy in Boca Raton. I have a monthly income, but would need to work part-time to make up for the difference in the cost of living. I was thinking of restaurant hostess, hotel desk clerk, etc. I would have to rent. Any input? I'm concerned about crime, not finding a job due to my age, making friends, and being caught in a too-fast lifestyle. Also, can I swim in the ocean there. One person said they never go to the beach b/c of sharks. Thanks!
