I've always assume that a large percentage were from so-called liberal states like NY, Mass. etc. Not sure about our transplanted Michigan friends.

Most of the caucasions I have known in FL are conservative and republican. I've met very few liberal whites here. The ones that are usually consist of university students.

In South Florida they are by and large liberal, because many have roots in the Northeast, from liberal states and areas.
You have to be pretty liberal minded and tolerant to put up with a cultural and racial mix many conservative whites wouldn't want to visit, let alone live amongst.

thanks for the responses guys. its a very interesting culture in south florida. i've noticed particularly a lot of hispanics have certain high paying positions, but i wouldn't exactly consider them the most qualified. its just interesting to me how the merging of cultures work and how the assimilation actually takes place. but everybody seems to be happy and getting along so that's nice.

A good many of the Floridians are displaced 'snow birds'... Retirees from the North.
Lots of them will be conservative in nature, due to them being retired and worried about thier money being stolen by the Government, or, that the Government wont support the lifestyle they are used to
College kids? They teach them to be 'liberals'.. The College Professors generally have hatred for America or some group, and they find that they can 'vent' on the Students, and force thier propaganda onto them... Shame, in other Countries, these nutjobs would be locked up LOL.
So, you want to know about caucausions? Talk to them and dont make snap judgements, just because you, may encounter a 'nutjob' here or there, but, remember, they come from every nationallity, race and religion!!

I'm not exactly sure how adding this contributes to the question of why whites specifically are so liberal in Florida (or why that was asked to begin with). We're not opening that can of worms here - sorry.
