My husband got a job offer in Boca so we are moving down to the Palm Beach county area in two months. We are in our early 20s. We are transferring to Palm Beach State College and then most likely going to FAU. I'm not sure which areas would suit us best and would like some input. Our main concern is how safe the area we live in is. Also, I currently have not found a job down there and most of my experience is in restaurants so I would need to be near plenty of restaurants for work.

We are both not interested in clubbing and prefer a smaller town kinda feel. My husbands new job is on S. Federal Highway and I think it was off of Palmetto Park Rd in Boca Raton and would like the commute to work be no more than a 40 minute drive.

Our maximum rent per month would be around $800. I would like to find a rental home rather than a rental apartment but I'm not too picky.

We also share my car currently, so it'd be nice if we were near busses and other forms of transportation for my husband so he can get to work in case I need to use my car.

Hi,

I am not local but have been reading posts in this forum. I could be wrong but I wonder if $800 could get you a rental home in a safe area in WPB ?

Good luck !

You're probably not getting responses because no one knows where to suggest that you find a rental (home, apartment, tent or anything!) in a safe area for $800 or less. You might find an apartment in a section of WPB called "The Villages" but those are usually pretty difficult to find.

I kind of remember (from reading posts in this forum) that $1000 could get you a relatively decent 2 bedrooms apartment or around $800 for a 1 bedroom but I don't know much about safety though.

I also remember posters said rent in South Florida is high.

Good luck !
