I've lived in PDX and now Jupiter. PDX is a world class city with a very diverse population. Jupiter is none of the above.

Miss Oregon!

I have grown to love the rain, especially with a three year old who LOVES splashing in puddles

I would recommend you stay in Oregon, you will not be happy here if you desire all the things you have in Oregon currently with exception family.

Pfft... I live in Portland now and use to live in SWFL and I am heading back.

Hate hate hate Portland. The spit that falls here they call rain is just anoying for 6-9 months. At least in Fla the rain is warm and over within 1 hr.

I moved from Michigan to Fla and loved every minute I was there. Moved to Portland for my ex. Now that is done and I am heading back to paradise asap.

i've been to portland many, many times at various times of year (father lives in SE p'land).

the climate here is a 180 from what you know. even in the hottest parts of the summer up there, it's mild by comparison to florida. the humidity will feel suffocating. the sun's rays will feel a lot more intense due to the lower latitude. but, the late fall/winter/spring can't be beat.

you will miss the mountains, lush natural greenery, youthful culture.

if i could tolerate the lack of sunlight, i would've probably moved to oregon a decade ago. the last few trips i've taken out there, the sun never poked out from behind the thick, gray blanket in the sky. thank god there's lots of bars.

I would be MISERABLE and half dead with all the fog and rain. Could not stand the lack of sunshine.

Isn't it hard though when it is nice but too hot to go out? I guess everyone has a different opinion on what lifestyle suits them. I mean camping in florida sounds boring and hot and buggy. Camping in with scenic views of mountains and little to no bugs with hiking trails abound and cold rivers to jump into sounds wonderful. I would love to have more sunshine but I trade that for lush greenery sweeping mountain vistas and lakes and streams my kid can play in. Trade-off I guess.

Not hard for us. We rarely stay indoors in Florida.
