Hi,

I would appreciate some comparisons between the two areas, as we are thinking of relocating to Jupiter. Raleigh doesn't seem to fit our taste.

Thanks.

Raleigh is way inland, not near the beach. Big city would be more accurate to compare it to a larger area, say Palm Beach County on a whole since the MSA is nearly identical.
Raleigh has a better job market and more jobs.
Jupiter is seasonal with a older population, a lot of wealthy areas, some average and some just plain bad. They also have a illegal population and day laborer issue many live off of Central Blvd.
Jupiter is smaller than Raleigh, some stores are not there you typically have to drive south to Palm Beach Gardens or farther for a lot of the typical conveniences, Target and Costco for example along with the closest Mall.

In a nutshell, Jupiter is a laid back place to live, not hectic and pretty uneventful, hurricanes, taxes and rising homeowners insurance will be your biggest worry. The beaches are nice and it has decent schools. They have crime issues, but nothing on the level of Raleigh. If you move out to west Jupiter, which they call "Jupiter Farms" it's popular with people who like living in the boonies, not my cup of tea.

If your moving here without jobs or planning to look after, then I would not suggest doing this. The market for some professions is really bad here.

thx.... Raleigh has a sizable migrant population that settled there during the building boom...most are Mexicans. Jupiter's illegals are mostly Guatemalans and live off Center street, not Central. Guatemalans are big in the landscaping industry.

Are the people more outgoing and friendly? I don't really mind the illegals (they are everywhere now) and most of them are no problem, same as the normal population. I am looking for more "personality", and it doesn't hurt that Jupiter is near some gorgeous beaches.

Thanks.

Yes Center Street, I always get the two mixed up. Limestone Creek north of Indiantown is a real seedy area.

The Cuban population in Raleigh is the biggest Latino demographic, not Mexican.

ummm.....not in the trades! The Cubans get counted on census info, the illegal Mexicans are still under the radar.

A large population of people are from NY/NJ, also a lot of crabby wealthy people who will not hold the door open for you as well you will see this rudeness on the roads when driving. If your from the Northeast, you will feel at home.

There are plenty of younger family based areas with communities full of younger active people. As it is Florida, there is a mix of an older population which I tend to notice more as you go towards the beach. You won't have any problem finding a good family area in pretty much any budget.

There is some sort of festival or get together almost every week it seems so there is plenty to do. There's plenty of good restaurants and shopping on Indiantown including a Walmart for convenience shopping. There's half a dozen publix's as well. They have starting building the Harbourside on Indiantown and US1 so we will have a smaller version of our own mall. Driving 5 minutes to PBG isn't really a bother at all if you do need to do anything there.

I've never experienced any crime or know anyone that has for that matter. Not to say that it's not there, but most of it is petty. I've never felt close to unsafe here. There are a couple areas most people would avoid, but you have that in pretty much every city.

.
It takes longer than 5 minutes to get from Indiantown Rd in Jupiter to PGA and Northlake, when you figure in all the traffic lights and having to go way west to hit 95 to avoid taking US1, A1A or Military, it's easily 15 - 20 minutes.

Okay, if you say so, I typically don't hang out at Home Depot to ask the day laborers where they are from.
