Hi All!

We are seriously considering moving from Orange County, NY to Florida... We have 3 children (ages 10, 12 & 15). We've spent some time vacationing in Jensen Beach and really loved it; but don't know what it's like to actually live there. Was wondering what areas have good public schools, are safe and have a "nice friendly feel"...

Considering Jensen Beach, Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, Palm City and Palm Beach Gardens. Wondering if these are good areas and if anyone has any other suggestions or comments to help us narrow down towns to research! Thanks so much for any input!!

All those areas are nice for the most part, some of those areas have some not so nice sections, but do not move here without having a job lined up first and a good one at that, that alone should be the basis of where you decide to live.

Default Thanks for you input!

Of those towns, which ones have less than desirable areas? Hubby already has employment (job from which he can work from home). Moving to get away from crazy real estate taxes and cold winters!

Each of the cities you mention will have at least a couple neighborhoods and areas you probably wouldn't want to live in.

But, none are known for being generally unsafe.

First let us know where you're working. If it's Palm Beach County, you'll probably want to stick to cities in county. If it's on the Treasure Coast, then the other cities will work.

Working from home; it could Palm Beach County or Treasure Coast... Interested in gated communities with good schools! Thanks...

Jupiter and parts of the Gardens will have higher rated schools. Depending on the price range you are looking in, most of the family friendly communities in the area aren't gated as there really isn't much of a need for it.
All the areas you mentioned are primarily nice, but for the most part the pace of life seems to slow down the further North you go. Some people like the slower pace, some don't. Obviously spend as much time as you can down here getting to know the areas or rent for six months to a year to figure out where you want to be.
Taxes are a little less in Martin County than they are in PBC.

Ok, thanks for your input! Narrowing it down to these towns: Jensen Beach, Palm City and Palm Beach Gardens... Any recommendations between these 3 towns is truly appreciated!!

Is there a reason you ruled out Jupiter? That's usually a very popular area for families.
Are you looking to live in a smaller town or an area a little more populated? All three are smaller but Jensen Beach is only 11k people and Palm City is 22k.
I'd recommend Palm Beach Gardens as you'll probably find more for the kids to do, more restaurants, and shopping as well.
Mirabella Palm Beach Gardens Luxury Gated Community - Kenco Communities is a nice gated community located next to an athletic park and close to a high rated elementary school.

Jensen Beach is small but is surrounded by Stuart and Port St Lucie so there is plenty to do in the area. I would think if it's an option it should be a strong one as the schools in Jensen Beach are traditionally among the best in Florida. Jensen Beach/Martin County is also much less crowded and congested than further south in Palm Beach County which is a significant factor I would urge you to consider.

Property taxes and property insurance is very expensive who told you different? When the prices fell they raised millage rates. We have seen the rates go up each year.
Not to try to discourage you but that is the truth.
Just look at the example from one year to the next http://www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/papa/...lage-Rates.pdf

Best of luck warm winters yes, low taxes and insurance no.
