Hello

I just moved here from NY with my boyfriend, we are both young professionals just graduated college and working in jupiter and wellington.....we live now in jupiter with family but have to move out and deciding where to go....We are having a hard time deciding between abacoa, palm beach gardens, and clematis street. The place on clematis street however is in a low income housing and very old and gross, but the location is awesome (we also dont know if we could live there because since its low income housing their is restrictions on income)....We liked abacoa it felt safe and it is nice, but is it fun, etc? and palm beach gardens we also liked near downtown at the gardens....so we are trying to decide between all 3 but we have our eyes set mainly on abacoa and downtown at the gardens in PBG.....Any opinions/advice would be very very helpful!!!!!!!

We LOVE Palm Beach gardens. DM me anytime for more specific info. The gardens mall is amazing. Did you see it for the holidays? Tons of great places to eat too.

Good luck whatever you decide. Life is great here. We're also from NY (city).

Thanks so so much! If you dont mind me asking, where do you guys live in palm beach gardens? we were looking at san matera, but there is nothing available right now we loved palm beach gardens but we want to live close so we could walk to downtown....we looked at others but way to expensive we are trying for the 1,100 range, thats why we were also considering abacoa which isint far from the gardens i hear...we haven't seen it yet for the holidays, we have both been so busy from work, but how is it at night there and stuff? we have yet to make any friends so we are hoping for a great social scene!

Why are you looking at low income housing on Clematis street (from the sound of it I'm wondering if you're looking at the Music Loft Apts.?)

In a 1100 price range in downtown West Palm you should be able to get a 1br in one of the full service buildings, like the Strand, Prado, Whitney, etc., or even in Cityplace.

Abacoa town center is OK.... but honestly not a vibrant social scene you're probably looking for. Palm Beach Gardens is suburban, but maybe you can find a place to rent in Legacy Place so you can walk to the shops and even the mall/"downtown" if you get ambitious.

Anywhere you go though, showing up places and hoping to make friends can be very hard. You may need to explore social groups, young professional associations, Meetups, etc.

Thanks TriM....Yes we were looking at harris music lofts! but decided not to go with it just because 1. its low income housing 2. it was gross....we can just drive to Downtown from wherever we decide to live since it really only is like a 15 20 minute drive. we were thinking of joining the young professionals of the palm beaches so hopefully that works out nicely to meet some people. We still are having a hard time deciding between abacoa and palm beach gardens/san matera! ahhh

Neither Abacoa nor San Matera will provide the same walkable lifestyle as downtown.

But, I suppose if you want to be closer to more shops, Gardens is probably the better bet. You could walk to the mall at least, and "Downtown at the Gardens" which is an outdoor mall but with a few more entertainment options.

You may get bored going to the same 2-3 places in Abacoa town center, though the area is very nice.

There's nothing in San Matera anymore? I looked maybe not 8 months ago and the place had a ton of foreclosures/ short sales. Guess it is a good thing they are getting processed through...

Also, if you are new to area and want to be close to Downtown at the Gardens consider renting at Legacy Place or Mira Flores. They're within walking distance.

There are many places to live in the general area. Clematis street is an area I'd prefer to visit when desired, and leave when it gets dark. It's great for shopping, some fantastic bars and restaurants and night life. But I'd travel in larger groups there myself after dark. Believe it or not, there are some excellent rentals to be found across the bridge in Palm Beach itself.

We excluded clematis street now so its between abacoa and palm beach gardens....Legacy place was too expensive, our price range is 1,100....But San Matera hopefully is having some openings in the next couple weeks that we are hoping to grab...We looked at mira flores but wayyyy too expensive and above our price range, which is too bad because it is a great place but san matera is only right next door....if san matera doesnt pull through then we think we might just go for abacoa!
