If it is not too far of a commute for you, check out Martin County (Stuart and Palm City). Good schools, lower taxes, good selection of family neighborhoods (IMO). My husband works in Palm Beach Gardens and takes the turnpike to work from Palm City. Easy drive, not much traffic.

That's exactly what my girlfriend calls it. Sometimes it felt like we were in a movie with all the families out walking/biking etc. We enjoyed living in Abacoa, homes are pretty expensive for what you get but it's a very nice area. If we moved back it would probably be to Paseos, one of the newer Abacoa communities, or something on the water.

Paseos is not part of Abacoa though it is just north of it. Paseos was also built by Arvida.

Hobe Sound is nice east of Gomez (which is east of US1) but is somewhat desolate. Stuart to the north has the retail/car dealers/strip malls/restaurants. Schools tend to have huge boundaries due to the lower population (each school pulls from a big area so kids get bussed in from 10-15 miles in every direction). Jupiter Island is technically Hobe Sound east.

Take a ride up US1 north of Bridge road in the daylight.......lots of trailer parks, old steel buildings....hard to believe 10mm+ mansions are less than 2 miles away.

I wasn't inferring it was part of Paseos, thank you though.

FWIW, my comments were not meant as an attack on Abacoa, merely my honest opinion. It is a common occurrence in many newer (post-1970's) neighborhoods to have a neighbor less than 20 feet away...regardless of how expensive the neighborhood is (or isn't). I lived just west in NPB Heights (or whatever ridiculous name they've given it now); same disease, but much less expensive hosuing (and often less desirable neighbors).

I mostly grew up in surroundings similar to Abacoa, but I can understand how some not used to living this way feels about the close proximity of the houses.. Good thing we each don't mind our neighbors, hate to be knocked on and asked to lower my TV's volume too.. We were a close bunch though and can rely on some help in case of emergencies..

MyGym has a good camp 9am-2pm, not all weeks of the summer though. The best camp is APEX camp held at Jerry Thomas School. You must be 5 though, or going into Kindergarten I think. It is a PE camp and my daughter LOVED it so much. It has pretty long hours if you need them.

Just to update that APEX camp doesn't exist anymore but it is now called Camp Eagle or something like that. We left Jupiter because the mosquitoes are relentless and you just can't go outside. It is awful to be stuck inside.

Back to “The Walking Dead State of California”??? Woowww, Who in their right minds will do that ??? Unless you felt suicidal or do not care about life anymore, maybe then right ??
