There have been numerous gang incidents at the Boynton Mall.
Communities in south florida get busted quite often for under reporting crime.

Why do you provide no proof to back up these statements? I was just there recently and there was absolutely nothing "dangerous" about it.

That article does not talk about any "gang incidents" at the mall. And if you read the article, it says that police patrols have been stepped up for safety... and even before that the business owners that commented in the articles said that the area feels very safe. One of the people interviewed in the article even said that he's surprised to hear that crime because Boynton Beach is such a nice city.

Shopping in Boynton Beach is no different from any other middle class area in South Florida. Anytime I've shopped in that area I have never been a victim of crime, neither has anyone else I've known.

If you look at actual statistics posted here on City-Data (which carry data all the way back to 1999) it shows that the crime in Boynton Beach is lower than it has been any year before that.

Can you guys point out any areas of Boynton Beach that have high-crime and gangs and are west of I-95?

My family from NY visits all the time. My mom takes our daughter to the Boynton Beach mall, Chuck e Cheese, etc. on the east side and she has NEVER had a problem. We go to the movies, restaurants, and shops on the east side and we have never had a problem. There is always a police presence at the mall, although it doesn't really have a good mix of shops anymore, not even a Gap. Police also come into the movie theater if there's a big movie opening. We went to see another movie on the opening night of Argo and there we 2 police officers in the movie theater monitoring the line for Argo as well as a patrol SUV outside. It was pretty funny because all the people on line were mostly senior citizens, I guess they were part of the "60 and up gang" roaming the east side.

My in-laws have also lived in West Boynton, off Lyons, for over 10 years and they have never had a problem.

Also, the east and west sides do not share schools, we have our own elementary schools and we are zoned for park vista/west boca HS. We are also getting our own charter school this year which will open a middle school this August and a HS next year.

Like everywhere else, you just have to be vigilant and know your surroundings. It is pretty clear when you are driving into a bad area, just as it would be anywhere else. To those people that don't even live here and are posting links about crime here, I bet I could find crime links of every area in the US if I look hard enough.

When people say East side is bad, is it bad all the way to the beach? How is US1 in Boynton?

How is the area where the Casa Costa condo building is located? (it is on US1)

Cripes.. a few incidents with black perps and the whites start screaming about "crime" and act as if the whole place is falling under the influence of "the ghetto"!
Boynton beach is, on the whole, a very nice town, plagued mostly by endless, tightly packed , mostly white, suburban development with malls up the ying-yang, What Boynton NEEDS MOST is a downtown area, like Delray Beach.
Fie on all your houses!
