Hi everyone!! A few of you have recommended Jupiter Farms as a good neighborhood to raise children in...with a little more space than some other neighborhoods. Would ya'll consider Jupiter Farms a "middle class" community? Thanks!

We lived there for 3 years and loved it. A great place or kids. It has its own elementary school. The kids there ride ATVs, fish, ride horses, soccer, etc. It also has its own park with fields and playground. And you can get to the beach in 15 minutes. The lots are 1.25-2.5 acres and up.

It is a combination of middle class and some wealthier horse folks. But the majority is middle class.

You may want to rent for a year first. Prices are coming down fast but have a ways to go yet.

Hi Tonya. I agree with CJFlorida. Jupiter Farms is GREAT! Built a home there in 2004, started just after the hurricanes. Have since relocated, but I loved living in The Farms. I also feel that Jim King provided some good advice in your other post titled "Jupiter Area??"

As CJ indicated, JF is a mix of middle to upper class residents. I could go on and on about the positives. The area of JF and surrounds is definitely a jewel of South Florida, IMO. Nearby Jupiter is a great town and the beach areas are incredible. There are just a couple of things to keep in mind about JF...

Jupiter Farms has some low lying areas that are prone to flooding during heavy rain and especially during hurricanes with lots of rain. So, the elevation of the home and surrounding area is important to know. The drainage system is a tertiary one. The water runs into swales in front of homes, then into surrounding canals, then into the River. They have made many improvements to the system in recent years.

Homes in JF vary in age from the 70s to present. At the price point you mentioned in the other post, you can look at newer construction. That's a good thing for a number of reasons. Newer homes have been built to some very stringent building codes and the more recently a home was built in FL, the cheaper it is to insure. This is especially true if built after the most recent tightening of code, which I believe occurred in 2002. Water supply in JF is from well and septic is via septic tank. There are no fire hydrants.

Anyone I know who has ever lived in JF has LOVED it. We met some really wonderful people when we lived there. Very down-to-earth place. I would rate JF as one of the best places to raise a child in South Fl. Nice sense of community with a good, old-fashioned rural flavor. I LOVED all the horses and other animals at the Farms. Check out the Feed Store when you visit.

Someone else mentioned PB Country Estates. It's nice there, too. The two places (JF & PB C E) are very similar.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Another option in Northern Palm Beach County for acreage/equestrian properties is "Caloosa" (West on PGA Blvd.)

Though I don't know if Caloosa is as Middle Class as Palm Beach Country Estates (West on Donald Ross Rd.) or Jupiter Farms (West on Indiantown Road). It might be a more upscale option, though I don't remember much about the area (Caloosa) since I haven't been through that area in years.

You are welcome. We really loved 'the Farms' and I hope you do too, should you choose to move there.

Default Jupiter Farms

You should like JF. The best part is that we don't have a bunch of deed restrictions. Everyone is able to do what they like with regard to fencing or not fencing, or building style etc. Some stuff is fantastic and some not so hot but we have so many trees that there is privacy and the less than perfect places don't stick out.

Good sense of community. Horses are a big deal. Local horse club, vets, feed and tack stores.

The big plus is no deed restrictions. Try and find another area without that. Jupiter Farms is so unique.

It was a dump the last time I was there. The truck from Smokey and the Bandit was sitting in the yard rusting away, what a mess the place was.
