In deciding between East and West Boca, what should I take into consideration? I have read some posts where people do not seem to like West Boca as much, and I don't know why? Any thought/ opinions would be helpful.

Some background:
Working parents, two boys elementary and middle school age, involved in sports and chess, boy scouts. The beach is not important to us, but being in a community with friendly people would be nice. Public schools, not private and close proximity to shopping.

Thanks!

West Boca had a different feel than Central and East...Was not happy with the High School in West Boca, we moved to Central 33433 for Spanish River and Omni Middle for our daughter...East Boca is great for the High School but stay away from the Middle School from what my friends tell me even with the Re-zoning they did, Its still not a great school..

We just liked the Feel of central better along with the people and the kids....We preferred the Location better too

This is not current info.....

1. Swimom lives in NJ, left Boca years ago.
2. Boca Middle has an 8 of 10 rating on greatschools. The real estate in east Boca is more desirable and this is the middle school they are zoned for so it was never a bad choice as SM implies. If I was zoned for that school I wouldn't think twice about sending my kids there.
3. West Boca is not in the city limits, no city services and is essentially unincorporated PBC. You can put the "Boca address" on your mail and impress your friends but it still is west Boca.

we only left 16 months ago, and my friends have kids in the schools and TRUST ME 8 out of 10 means nothing...My daughters best friend attends Boca Middle and well she has been friends with her since 2009...

Please tell that to the Girl that was thrown down the stairs last year at Boca Middle and the other boy that was bullied so badly that the parents home schooled him....there is a poster on here Magnolia Bloom just ask her, her child attended Boca Middle and is now in the HS so if you want 1 st hand INFO please DM her....As for you City, You do not have experience with any of these schools, so when you do please let me know...My son swam for one of the local teams in East Boca so I know from the parents AND YES I am still friends with them what that school is like...

I appreciate your help and input, Swim Mom.

I appreciate any thoughts and opinions on the schools and areas, and anyone that takes the time to respond to these questions...

drama......This can happen in any school in America. There are 1300 kids in that school and you certainly can't say that these two experiences taint the whole school! That is .001% of the student body.

As far as experience......I ATTENDED BOCA RATON MIDDLE SCHOOL! My wife attended there as well and my mother in law is a teacher there!

I suspect you are the one with no experience here, hearsay yes but experience.....ZERO!

16 months ago and your children never attended the school.......hence not relevant!

Also keep in mind BMS is a feeder school for Boca High (highly rated) so what happens when these 6,7,8th graders get to high school? Then they become good students, better behaved? I would bet 80%+ of the Boca High students came right out of Boca Middle!

Your argument is non-sequitor...............

100% right on! Lots of folks love to drop the Boca name but in reality they are not even in the city!

I have never lived in NYC but there are plenty of folks here that brag about living in Manhattan, yet Brooklyn/Bronx was more like it.....same folks play this game in Flariduh. Boca/West Boca, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach.....big differences!
