I am here visiting the property that I'm interested in located in an intracoastal community in Lake Park.
While the neighborhood looks fine, I did notice some nearby areas that aren't so nice.
We drive along A1A through riviera beach, it looks awful. Pawn shops, boarded up buildings, everything looks run down. I saw a sign that they are making a Marina project there.

Does anyone know of this project? Do you think it'll help boost the economy and cleanup that area?

The city just got a big grant to clean things up . Of course that could take forever.

I'm going up there this coming week to take photos of stuff they are knocking down-like the Tiki Bar which will be gone by the 6th.

I mainly go to Lake Park for the theater downtown and also the vintage Dunkin Donuts store. They have table service; it's fun.

I can see why you're tempted to buy there. It seems to have lots of potential.

There's more info in the Save Old Florida thread.

Nothing in Riviera Beach goes as planned, tons of corruption with present and past politicians. It has always been a rough area and even their brand new beach area development is already getting trashed (it is less than 2 years old). I wouldn't bet on RB real estate even with 1000 to 1 odds.

Officers, deputies, searching for shooting suspect in Riviera Beach - Sun Sentinel

30-40 rounds fired at the cops.......US1 and Blue Heron, about 2 blocks from the new marina project.

The same group that is doing this project tried to do a similiar project back in 2005 but requested eminent domain for up to 2000 homes in Riveria Beach. Jeb Bush eventually blocked this and the project was canceled.

Those people were insane not to sell........2005-06 prices were the top of the market and by refusing to sell they saw prices fall and they still live in a ghetto with a powerplant/industrial area on the north side.

Reminds me of the Briny Breezes trailer park.......oceanfront trailer park in Ocean Ridge. Developer offered 500 million for 30-40 year old rusty trailers. Community was divided, some folks would be instant millionaires, even the lowest payout was 200K on a $3000 trailer. Too much in-fighting killed the deal and the developer walked (pretty sure his financing was weak).
